Four senior promotions
Four accountants and business advisers at Duncan & Toplis have been appointed to some of the top jobs in the company.
Duncan & Toplis, which is one of the largest accountancy and business advice companies in the Midlands, has appointed two new directors and two new associates.
Tara Beeston has been promoted to director, having previously been associate director based at the company’s office in Lincoln.
Stuart Brown has also been promoted to director, having previously been associate director for quality and technical assurance.
Meanwhile, Daniel Smithson has been promoted to associate, having been a manager at the company’s Newark office, as has Matthew Appleyard who is being promoted from the role of senior tax advisory manager.
Combined, the appointees have more than 50 years of experience in the sector, with most having started their careers as Duncan & Toplis trainees.
Speaking about her promotion, newly appointed director, Tara Beeston said:
“The training and support Duncan & Toplis has given to me since I joined almost 13 years ago has been fantastic. The company has given me and many others the help and guidance we need to reach our full potential and I’ve benefited greatly from opportunities offered by the company’s management and development courses.
Duncan & Toplis also has an excellent flexible working policy which allows me to have a great work/life balance, especially with having a young daughter. I’m delighted to be promoted to director and I’m very much looking forward to the future with the firm and working closely with my clients.”
Also newly appointed director, Stuart Brown, commented:
“From the first moment I walked into the office I knew I wanted to work for Duncan & Toplis. The modern offices, approachable and friendly team members and a focus on client service were very appealing.
There is a real sense of ‘Team’ at Duncan & Toplis. Team members care about each other’s wellbeing and that of their clients and strive to achieve the best outcomes, together.
As director, I will lead technical developments throughout the firm, covering audit and financial reporting and ensure that high-standards are maintained. I will also support the continuous improvement of our processes utilising Lean Six Sigma methodology. I am very excited about my future at Duncan & Toplis.”
The promotions reflect Duncan & Toplis’ continuing growth and success, providing a wider range of services to more than 4,500 organisations and individuals across the East Midlands. The company now ranks as the 29th largest accountancy firm in the UK and it has held the title of ICAEW Large Accountancy Firm of the Year for the last three years.
Managing Director, Adrian Reynolds said:
“I’m very pleased to welcome Stuart and Tara as our new company directors. They’ve each demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and I’m proud of the progress they’ve made in their careers at Duncan & Toplis. I’d also like to congratulate Daniel and Matthew for their appointment to the role of Associate. Their experience, training and commitment to delivering the best service have made them outstanding members of our team.
At a time when all businesses are overcoming the most challenging of circumstances, it’s important to celebrate great news such as this. Business life may be most unusual at the moment, but we’re confident that we are able to support our team and our clients as we look forward to life returning to normal once the threat of COVID-19 has passed.
As with many companies, we’re working hard to protect the jobs of every one of our employees and it’s exciting to be promoting members of our team who’ll help lead us into the future. I’m sure Tara, Stuart, Daniel and Matthew will make a great contribution to Duncan & Toplis in their new roles.”
