We have appointed Simon Shaw as Head of Property and Construction and Niall Kingsley as Head of Charities (including not-for-profits).

The appointments are set to develop and share know-how in these key areas of the group’s wide-ranging business practices and focus resources on providing even greater support to charities and property businesses in the challenging economic climate.

With 24 years of experience at Duncan & Toplis advising a wide range of small and medium-sized businesses on issues including taxation, business structures and property tax, Simon will take the reins as Head of Property and Construction.

Taking on the newly established role of Head of Charities is Niall Kingsley, who has 19 years of experience at Duncan & Toplis’ Grantham and Loughborough offices, advising on a range of issues for charities and not-for-profits.

Speaking of his appointment as Head of Charities, Niall Kingsley said:

“I’m thrilled to be accepting this new appointment at Duncan & Toplis. We work with over 100 charities across the East Midlands and this is an incredible opportunity to expand our offering.

“We want every charity and not-for-profit to not only maintain absolute compliance but also identify areas to drive growth and thrive with good governance.”

From dealing with structure, tax and governance to managing charity VAT and accountancy, we offer expert impartial advice to help charities monitor their cash flow, reserves, expenditure and optimally position them to achieve their wider goals, with regular updates from trusted advisors. Crucially, this team, under Niall’s lead, will make certain that charities understand the need to be compliant with accounting, scrutiny, governance, tax and VAT requirements.

Speaking of his appointment, Head of Property and Construction Simon Shaw said:

“There are clear, rising pressures within the highly competitive property and construction industry, so the need for specialist support to improve and maintain business strength is at an all-time high.

“Our team understands the shifting challenges faced by the property and construction industry and we’re keen to meet the demand for highly commercial accountancy support and tax advice.

“As leading construction accountants in the UK, we pride ourselves on our expert sector knowledge that enables our clients to maximise the value of their projects despite the complex compliance and regulations in place.”
