Technical Account Manager

| Full-time | East Midlands

Duncan & Toplis  is seeking a Technical Account Manager without our IT services team, Datcom. This role will be instrumental in managing all our IT services client relationships, nurturing strong partnerships, and ensuring the best quality service is given, whilst aligning them with appropriate solutions and services offered by our company.  

Whilst not a sales account manager role, you will be working closely with our account director and sales team to develop strategic plans to expand business within targeted clients. 

This position is available in traditional office-based or hybrid models, working from our base in Grantham.

Coming from a technical hands-on background, you will have a full understanding and appreciation of our clients’ technological landscapes and be able to drive both the best level of current support and the development of their IT. 

We are looking for somebody with the proven skills to be able to confidently carry out the above. The skills and qualifications listed below will need to be evidenced during the interview stage.  

  • Technical IT background - we are first and foremost a technical business and a Microsoft-based technical background is mandatory
  • Customer obsessed; you have a strong customer-centric focus
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation with gravitas and confidence, including senior executives and board members
  • Demonstrates self-sufficiency and competency during high-level discussions and negotiations
  • Good business acumen with an ability to understand business challenges faced by small-to-medium-sized businesses 
  • Pragmatic problem solver, and attentive to detail 
  • Able to identify and pursue opportunities to expand the account, delivering tailored solutions that meet the client's business objectives 
  • Ability to monitor account performance, analyse data and provide actionable insights and recommendations to enhance continuous service improvement and client satisfaction
  • Has a strategic mindset, is creative, and adept at critical thinking whilst applying analytical reasoning
  • Ability to work on multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and presentation skills  
  • Strong networker, negotiator, and client liaison
  • Collaborative - ability to work cross-team
  • General technical acumen and interest in new technology
  • Strong organisational skills with a clear ability to self-manage day-to-day workloads.  

What does this role involve?

Here's a bit more on what you can expect to be doing day-to-day: 

  • You will act as the main point of contact for our IT services clients. You will need to build trust, credibility and own and maintain the relationship. 
  • Liaising with the client and our internal teams, you will need to understand the client's needs and objectives; providing proactive support and advice, as well as delivering fast, thorough reactive responses to queries
  • You will monitor account performance, providing insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction  
  • Working with our leadership team, you will conduct contract renewals, engage in pricing negotiations on contracts and service provision, maximising value for both Datcom and the client. You will create and propose quotations for all client requirements, ensuring that within the framework of our financial goals, our quality standards are maintained. 
  • As our clients go-to, you will need to stay up-to-date with the latest market trends, technologies and versions, ensuring their technical landscapes represent the best solution for them.
