As a VAT Assistant, you will provide support by using your specialist knowledge to add value to the bookkeeping hub, draft VAT projects, advice, or compliance, and support our team in delivering high-quality services to our clients.
Whilst we encourage applicants of all backgrounds and capabilities to apply, it’s essential that your values and experience align with this role’s key responsibilities, such as the ability to research and gain relevant expertise to support our VAT team. You must also demonstrate the ability to manage your time to work to specified deadlines, including creating accurate work under tight timescales and quick turnarounds, and have effective communication with both clients and teams.
Draft all elements of a VAT project, advice, or compliance, for review by your lead VAT adviser or manager, keeping review points to a minimum.
Keep technical knowledge up to date in taxation matters by completing the Tax Matrix, your CPD form each year, and carry out necessary VAT research to gain valuable knowledge.
Assist in all aspects of the company’s relationships with them to maximise yield and performance. You will obtain client information successfully, and highlight potential areas of assistance to team members.

As part of the tax team, you’ll be part of a team that provides a high-quality service to external clients. You will liaise with clients, team members, and be a key member for relaying communications for our VAT team.
In this role, you will lead tax projects, provide tax advice, and submit compliance assignments to ensure the successful completion of tax advice for relevant clients. You will develop and maintain the professional competencies necessary to provide a high-quality service to clients, and thereby strengthen the company’s reputation, strength, and success. You will work to deadlines requiring flexibility to ensure service delivery in line with the company’s culture and core values of ‘trust, strength, direction and value’.
