Charles Burrell has been appointed as Head of Manufacturing at Duncan & Toplis, alongside his existing role as Assurance Director based in Derby, further strengthening Duncan & Toplis' commitment to supporting one of the Midlands’ most important sectors.
The appointment comes at a significant time for the region’s manufacturing industry. Derby has long been recognised as one of the UK’s leading manufacturing centres, with a rich industrial heritage spanning rail, engineering and aerospace. Today, the city remains home to major manufacturers and a thriving supply chain network, making it a key growth area for Duncan & Toplis as the business continues to expand its presence across the Midlands.
Charles succeeds Julie Chapman, after two years heading up the manufacturing sector team and playing a central role in strengthening Duncan & Toplis’ reputation as a trusted adviser to manufacturing businesses across the region. Julie will continue to work closely with clients and colleagues across the sector and remains a highly valued and influential part of the team.
Charles brings almost 20 years of audit and assurance experience, working with owner-managed businesses, complex groups and specialist sectors across the East Midlands. He supports clients by providing practical assurance and guidance to help them meet reporting requirements, scale effectively and make informed decisions, while also supporting businesses through periods of strategic growth and expansion.
In his new role, Charles will lead Duncan & Toplis’ manufacturing proposition while continuing to strengthen its presence across Derby and the wider Midlands region.
Charles Burrell said:
“The Midlands has always played a critical role in UK manufacturing, and Derby is a fantastic example of that heritage continuing to evolve. It remains a hugely important centre for innovation, engineering and industrial growth.
“Manufacturers are facing real challenges, but there are also significant opportunities for businesses that are prepared to adapt and invest. I’m delighted to take on the role of Head of Manufacturing and look forward to continuing to work closely with clients across the region and helping them navigate what comes next.”
Damon Brain, Chief Executive Officer at Duncan & Toplis, added:
"Manufacturing is a vital sector for both Duncan & Toplis and the wider Midlands economy. We have deep roots in the region and a long history of supporting manufacturing businesses through every stage of growth.
“Charles’ appointment reflects our continued investment in this sector and our ambition to further strengthen our expertise across Derby and the wider Midlands. I would also like to thank Julie for her outstanding leadership and contribution over the past years."
The appointment forms part of Duncan & Toplis’ wider growth strategy as part of Kinbrook Group, which continues to invest in sector expertise, regional expansion and specialist advisory services across the UK.
