Our Hall Louth is a campaign aimed at restoring the now derelict Royal British Legion building in Louth to its former status as a community hub and valued social space.
The Royal British Legion Hall will shortly be put up for sale and members of the local community have come together to raise funds to purchase the building to save it from being demolished and possibly replaced with housing.
They want to get the hall back into the hands of the community and create a multifunctional, communal space which will be a cultural and business hub for Louth incorporating a cafe/bakery, co-working space and several multifunctional spaces.
The hall has been a stalwart of the Louth community for 160 years and holds significant memories for many.
The donation from The Duncan & Toplis Foundation will go towards the funds they are raising to buy the Royal British Legion building.
Nikki Wheeldon, Team Member at Our Hall Louth said: “We are a local community-led project backed by our wider community and we are very grateful that this includes organisations like The Duncan & Toplis Foundation. We would like to thank them for believing in our cause and supporting us with a donation to save Our Hall Louth.”
Rachel Barrett, a Duncan & Toplis Director and Trustee of The Duncan & Toplis Foundation, added: “One of the Foundation’s primary objectives is to support deserving causes to provide community spaces so we’re pleased to donate to this important community fundraising campaign to save a local landmark and secure the future of the building as a social hub.”
