The Duncan & Toplis Foundation supports charities and community organisations that provide essential care and services to people across the communities it serves. Among the latest recipients is Treetops Hospice, a leading hospice charity providing specialist care for adults with life-limiting conditions, bereaved people and their families across central and southern Derbyshire.
A grant from the Foundation is helping to purchase and install a new reception desk at the hospice’s main building. The project will transform the entrance area into a more welcoming and accessible space for patients, families and visitors accessing the hospice’s services.
Treetops Hospice supports more than 2,100 patients each year and delivers thousands of hours of expert care within the community. Its teams provide specialist palliative care, crisis intervention, complex symptom management and emotional support for individuals and families facing some of life’s most challenging circumstances. The charity is also recognised nationally for its expertise in bereavement and trauma-informed therapies, as well as its work in palliative care education.
Many people arrive feeling anxious or uncertain about entering a hospice environment, and a new reception desk helps create a warm and welcoming first impression.
The new desk will create a more open and free-flowing entrance area leading into the hospice’s wellbeing space. By improving accessibility and reducing congestion, the project will help visitors feel more comfortable and supported from the moment they arrive, enhancing the experience for everyone who accesses the hospice’s services.
