Mastenbroek is the UK’s leading manufacturer of trenching machinery, supplying the global cable and pipe laying industry in the field of utility, offshore and agricultural applications, supplying precision-engineered machines across the globe.
Their roots lie in agricultural sub-surface land drainage, beginning in 1977 when they manufactured their first trencher and is where they base their continued focus on developing diverse engineered solutions.
Mastenbroek has been proactive in engineering efficient and effective solutions to environmental issues. Currently, they are building two Model 30/20 drainage trenchers that will be GPS-controlled for installing subsurface drainage to manage field water levels and optimise crop yields with reduced tillage and inputs. These trenchers will be used in the agricultural sector in Lincolnshire and East Anglia, as well as nationally for renewable energy infrastructure projects.
We recently spoke with Mastenbroek’s Managing Director, Chris Pett, about how Duncan & Toplis support their busy, hands-on business, and his experience of our audit services, amongst others.
“Duncan & Toplis has worked with our business for the last six years. We like that they can offer us a hybrid audit which provides a good balance between thoroughness and minimising disruption to the day-to-day running of the accounts department,” explains Chris. “There is continuity in the team, audits are conducted in an efficient and timely manner, charges are agreed in advance, and the team are always available to deal with any questions that we have, and aside from the wider team, Alistair Main is always reachable.
Speaking about our other services, Chris went on to say:
“Duncan & Toplis offers us a very personable service which is backed up with the strength and breadth of their business. Alongside their audit service, we have received R&D tax credit advice and VAT advice, and have supported us with a generational transition of ownership within the family – they even delivered ESG webinars recently.
“We are also able to benefit from their manufacturing and engineering sector expertise and advice on international accountancy and taxation matters through their membership of Kreston Global. I would highly recommend their services to others.”
