ACA Trainee

We’re looking for ambitious individuals to join us as ACA Trainees, starting their journey to chartered status through a fully funded ACA qualification with the ICAEW.

What does this role involve?

Joining us as an ACA Trainee, you’ll embark on a three-year training contract with us and the ICAEW, combining structured study with hands-on experience across a variety of accounting disciplines.

You’ll develop the professional and interpersonal skills needed to deliver a high-quality client experience, helping to strengthen client relationships and contribute to the continued success and reputation of Duncan & Toplis.

This structured, yet varied training programme, provides a well-rounded understanding of the accounting profession, helping you identify and shape your long-term career path.

Teamwork

During your training contract, you will gain hands-on experience with our core service line teams - including assurance, business services, and tax – helping you to put everything you learn into action in real-life scenarios.

You will be supported to complete the initial preparation of client accounts and assist with audits where necessary. In addition, you will prepare tax computations, opening balance agreements, engagement letters and general administration as and when required.

Client experience

You will develop and maintain the professional competencies necessary to provide a high-quality service to clients, contributing to the company’s reputation, strength, and success.

Skills and experience

In addition to a minimum degree at 2:1 or equivalent, it is essential have the following skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Effective time management to balance work and study
  • Collaborative approach to working effectively as part of a wider team
