As a PR and Content Coordinator, you'll be involved in every aspect of content marketing and Public Relations campaign management, where you will contribute to a wide range of marketing campaigns to support the development and promotion of both our sector and service specialisms and our internal and external news and communications.

The Duncan & Toplis group is one of the UK’s top regional accountancy firms, specialising in accountancy, tax, and business advice, as well as supporting clients with legal services, IT support, and wealth management. Established in 1925, the team provide services to more than 12,000 businesses and individuals. What does this role involve?

PR is a key tactic in raising awareness of the Duncan & Toplis brand, to support not only strategic acquisition objectives, but also in winning new business by keeping the group brand in the public domain and front of mind in both potential acquisitions and potential clients alike.

As PR and Content Coordinator you will participate in and develop relevant and informative materials to support the group’s growth objectives from both an inwards and outwards perspective and craft compelling narratives for use across a range of media including website, blogging, scripts, social media, and other internal and external channels. You will develop content for a variety of marketing campaigns, in line with brand guidelines, consistently implementing the brand voice across all channels and marketing materials.

Content creation

You will support other channels which require content marketing input, including award submissions, email marketing, lead generation campaigns and social media messaging. You will research items of news that will be relevant and useful to our target audience and clients, and develop content accordingly. You will also support with the development and coordination of internal news items when required and contribute to our monthly newspaper.

Liaising with media

You will write and send PR campaign pitches to local media and journalists, monitor journalist requests, and client news agendas, as well as liaising with our third-party agencies.

Digital marketing

You will write content in line with guiding SEO principles and remain up-to-date on SEO best practice to ensure good visibility of our content. You will also assist with the preparation of digital marketing reports and format proposals to ensure a consistent reflection of our brand across the group and tone of voice.

Skills and experience

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Excellent written English, editing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to present and relay information clearly
  • Analytical with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prepare work to deadlines
  • Experience working with external media, marketeers and journalists
  • Experience in content creation, copywriting, Public Relations and digital marketing within a professional services environment
  • A fundamental understanding of SEO theory and best practice
  • Experience using Public Relations tools i.e. MuckRack or equivalent
  • Ability to work flexibly with a sense of urgency within a changing environment
  • Experience writing project briefs, abstracts and scripts
  • Creating storyboards and concept maps
  • Comfortable in researching industry-specific trends, insights and current events to identify market synergies
  • Generating thought-led topic ideas for newsletters, social media posts, blogs, LinkedIn and marketing campaigns
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to organise own work and that of others
  • A BA in communications, event management, public relations or marketing is an advantage, though other degrees and work experience are welcomed
  • A professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations or the Chartered Institute of Marketing can be helpful - CPD with these organisations will be supported

Key interfaces

As part of the marketing team, you will work closely with the Marketing Manager and liaise and work with marketing team members, directors, and heads of service lines and sectors, as is appropriate to the project.

Externally, you’ll be expected to engage with third-party suppliers, journalists, editors and media contacts.
